How to Foster!

Team FSDA is so thankful for your interest in fostering! As a foster based rescue, FSDA can’t survive without our fosters! In order to take a dog into our care, we need to know that we have a safe space for them and that’s where fosters come in!

The first step to becoming an FSDA foster is to complete a foster application. Our foster application is very similar to our adoption application, and the application review follows the same guidelines as our adoption applications. This includes background checks, vet reference checks, social media reviews, and home visits if deemed necessary.

All FSDA fosters need to live in the greater Sarasota/Tampa area with the ability to travel to Sarasota for veterinary care. All current pets within a prospective foster home must be up to date on all veterinary care, and all adult dogs must be spayed or neutered.

FSDA will provide foster homes with any and all supplies needed to ensure success - food, toys, treats, beds, blankets, crates, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, collars, leashes, and more.
